A CASB is an on-premises or cloud-based solution that serves as an intermediary between one or more cloud providers and an organization’s on-premises and/or cloud-based security infrastructure. A CASB acts to ensure that the organization’s security policies are executed properly by the cloud provider(s) that are used by the organization. CASBs enable security analysts and others within an organization to determine how cloud applications and services are being used, to identify any nonsanctioned “shadow IT” applications that might have been installed, and to provide insight into cloud-to-cloud operations.
Osterman Research conducted an in-depth survey for this white paper among organizations that already have, or are in the process, of deploying a CASB solution. The survey was conducted with 174 decision-makers and/or influencers for their organizations’ cloud security solutions. Some of the research is presented in this paper, but will be provided in full in a separate publication.
